Artist's Statement

In the humble and homey dress shop my grandmother owned in Brazil, there was a door hidden in the back that was not open to the public. From the floral, comfortable settings of the shop, the door led to an industrial, pipe-filled factory towards the back of the store...

I had found theater to be messy and beautiful, with the ability to show and present a sense of identity. I wanted to share the mix of my research through a blend of philosophy and arts, and I hope to present my findings with hints of my imagination and creativity in sharing messages through the language of theater. I wish to carry the same influence my grandmother carried within her shop and, with pride, be able to call works my own and change the mindsets of those who my pieces can touch.
